Cross Creek, a 1983 movie, is the true story of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, the author of The Yearling. Mary Steenburgen stars as Rawlings. She may be known as Mrs. Ted Danson now, but she’s a fantastic actress in her own right. I loved the TV show Joan of Arcadia. Steenburgen played the mom of messenger from God Joan. I was so ticked when CBS cancelled that show.

This is another film adaptation of a Stephen King novel. I remember watching this and thinking Christopher Walken is one of the creepiest actors of all time. But then I saw him in Sarah, Plain and Tall with Glen Close, and he plays a good guy in that one. He is still a very strange duck, though. Have you seen the YouTube video of him cooking chicken with pears in his own kitchen?
