Amadeus is a fictionalized account of the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and his contemporary composer, Antonio Salieri. In the film, Mozart is portrayed as childlish, indulgent, spoiled, and crude - yet an absolute genius. In the DVD, Tom Hulce, who portrayed Mozart, credits tennnis player John McEnroe’s moodiness as the inspiration for his portrayal of the volatile composer. This is a terrific film, and the music is breathtaking.
