Eighties band Cheap Trick has found a way to revive their career – playing Beatles tunes! In LA, Cheap Trick performed the entire Sgt. Pepper album, with special guest stars like Joan Osborne. It was a two-night gig at the Hollywood Bowl. I wonder if anyone would go see Cheap Trick play if they were playing their own songs?

I listened to a lot of country in high school, and I remember these as the days of Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson. I still listened to enough pop, though, that these five songs bring back memories:
1. Look Away, Chicago
2. My Perogative, Bobby Brown
3. Every Rose Has Its Thorn, Poison
4. Straight Up, Paula Abdul
5. Miss You Much, Janet Jackson
Here’s Chicago with the number one.

Ahh, freshman year. Big hair, shoulder pads, tapered jeans. And Walk Like an Egyptian. Wonder where the Bangles are now? They were a one-or-two-hit wonder.
1. Walk Like an Egyptian, Bangles
2. Alone, Heart
3. Shake You Down, Gregory Abbott
4. I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me), Whitney Houston
5. Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now, Starship

What’s Love Got to Do With It? That’s the question Tina Turner was asking in 1984. Where were you in 1984? If you listened to the radio back then, chances are you heard these top five songs:
1. When Doves Cry, Prince
2. What’s Love Got To Do With It, Tina Turner
3. Say, Say, Say, Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson
4. Footloose, Kenny Loggins
5. Against All Odds (Take a Look At Me Now), Phil Collins

I was 10 in 1982, but I can still remember my mother’s outrage over Olivia Newton John’s song Physical. “You know she’s not talking about exercising, right? Hmmph.” If you’re in a mood for a trip down memory lane, here are the top ten songs of 1982:
1. Physical, Olivia Newton John
2. Eye of the Tiger, Survivor
3. I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
4. Ebony and Ivory, Paul McCartney & Stevie Wonder
5. Centerfold, J. Geils Band
And here’s the video for Physical.
