
Children of a Lesser God is the 1986 film that won Marlee Matlin an Oscar for Best Actress and established her career. She stars as a deaf woman working at a school for hearing-impaired students. William Hurt comes to work as a teacher, and the two fall in love. The film was adapted from a Tony-winning play that ran from 1980 to 1982.
