Just looking at that photo on the front of 1981’s Mommie Dearest makes me want to go hide all the wire hangers in my house. Faye Dunaway is chilling a Joan Crawford, the actress and abusive mother. The movie is based on the book by Crawford’s daughter, and in some ways the book is even more horrifying, knowing that the words were written by the abuse victim herself.
